Junior C Championship Final
Nemo Rangers 1-06 Bishopstown 0-06
Nemo Ranger's Junior C's have written themselves into the history books by beating old rivals Bishopstown in a closely fought final and winning the clubs first silverware of the season.
The Nemo men took to the Ballinlough pitch with an air of caution as they were about to face into what was some of theirs first major final of their football career. The wind and the rain did not help either side as they both fought for early position of the football.
Nemo got off to a dream start with a flurry of points from full forward Nial Moriarty and a well kicked point from the inspirational Robbie Broen put the Nemo men up 5 points to one in the first twenty minutes. Conor Forde and Mark Hartnett selfless as usual, made some great runs to take away the defenders and ferocious work from Neil O Donnoghue and Colin Titley left space inside for Moriarty and Brohan to score. Nemo were cruising at this stage but as the conditions worsened the game took a turn which saw the Bishopstown men keep the Nemo forwards scoreless for the remainder of the half which allowed them go in just one point in arrears at half time (0-5 to 0-4)
Nemo Introduced Peter Kelly and Peter McCabe at half time to bolster their forward line and try inject some fresh legs into a forward line which had run itself to an almost standstill in the first half.
The second half was more a half of rugged and often spectacular defending from the Nemo Backs. The half started with great promise for Nemo when Mark Hartnett was pulled down in the large rectangle which gave captain Moriarty the opportunity to slot home the resulting penalty to take his personal tally to 1-04 for the game. After that it is safe to say Bishopstown had the majority of the possession in the second half. They bombarded the Nemo defense with ball after ball into their full forward line which was met by dogged defending from the Nemo lads. Rory Duggan marshaled the full back line and along with Tadhg Lyons and Johnny Brohan-Browne pulled off some top class defending. Rory Gibbons once again never looked under great threat in goal due to his fantastic communication with his back line as well as their never say die attitude which allowed Rory to be one of the only goalkeepers in the county to boast not letting a single goal past him in the whole championship season. Nemo weathered the storm restricting the Bishopstown men to just 2 points in the second half. Substitutes Sean Murphy and Denis Coughlan as well as John o Keeffe, PJ Browne, Robbie Kenneally and our own Maurice Fitzgerald gave everything they had to ensure Nemo came away with the trophy at the end of the 60 minutes.
The team would like to thank Keith Sheehan, Ciaran Lynch and Mick O Donnovan for their tireless support all season long and would also like to thank all of the supporters who came out to support us through our championship season. Hopefully this is the first of many trophies to come through the Trabeg gates this year

Nemo 0-15 Rochestown 0-14
Nemo's junior C's were once again involved in a nail biting championship match in Rochestown last night, but their never say die attitude and great work ethic saw them prevail by a solitary point.
Nemo burst out of the blocks when Captain Niall Moriarty coolly slotted over the first point of the game. Mark Hartnett then burst onto a fantastic through ball and was dragged down in front of goal allowing Morriarty to kick the second of his 9 points of the game. Hartnett then followed on suit scoring a point of his own and with some great work and determination he set up Conor Forde to slot over his first point of the championship. Rochestown showed great determination themselves and for every point Nemo scored they were pegged back and the sides went in at half time level at 7 points each.
Rochestown came out fighting in the second half and through a series of frees pulled away from Nemo and built up a 4 point lead. Nemo responded to this with interest upping their game and fighting even harder for every ball. Center Back Paul James Browne midfielder John O Keeffe and Half forward Colin Titley dominated in the second half letting in quick bal into the potent full forward line where Moriarty was unstoppable. Every player gave their all and but for a few questionable refereeing decisions Rochestown would have been put away. The Nemo men fought hard and eventually came out with the one point win which they thoroughly deserved
The guys now face Bishopstown in the Final in the coming weeks
Well done to all

Junior C Championship Quarter Final
Last night Nemo Rangers Junior C's fought and battled to inflict the first defeat of the season to a strong Rathpeacon team and knocked them out of the junior C championship by a single point.
The game started off at a high tempo with Rathpeacon starting the better of the two sides scoring the first two points of the game, this spurred the Nemo men into action and a great point from Mark Hartnett saw Nemo take a lead of 0-5 to 0-4 at half time.
Nemo emerged from the dressing room after half time with high spirits and burst into action straight away when Cian Cummins played a fantastic ball into Sean Place who unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner of the net. Nemo were under the cosh for allot of the second half but superb defending from the Nemo defenders, a top class save from Nemo goal keeper Rory Gibbons as well as the great performance of Nemo center forward Neil O Donoghue kept Rathpeacon at bay. Nemo captain Niall Moriarty then kept his cool in the closing minutes slotting a difficult free over the bar to lead the Nemo men to victory 1-6 to 0-8.
Well done to all
