Fe 10 Hurling League vs St Vincents Tues July 4th

The Fe 10 hurlers played an entertaining hurling league game against St Vincents in Trabeg recently. The visitors had some fine hurlers. The Nemo boys were very competitive throughout the game but the better wrist work of the St Vincents boys told in the end. Nemo lost narrowly but gave a very good account of themselves.

Girls Fe 16 B2 Football League vs Ballygarvan Weds July 5th

Played away the girls put on a great display on the night. They dominated throughout the field and were never led. They got some great scores from some very good team play. In the end they recorded a well-deserved and comfortable win.

Girls Fe 16 B2 Football League vs Macroom Fri July 7th

The Fe 18 girls followed up there win against Ballygarvan with a home game against a very strong Macroom side. On the day Macroom were excellent and despite the Nemo girl’s best efforts, the visitors dominated. Macroom scored some excellent goals and they ran out comfortable and deserved winners. A week of contrast for the Nemo girls – winning so well in Ballygarvan on the Wednesday night and then losing to Macroom on Saturday.

Fe 16 B2 Hurling League vs Lisgoold Fri July 7th

Played in lovely Lisgoold this game had everything. Goal mouth scrambles, excellent long range points and some brilliant goals. They was never much between the teams with Lisgoold starting the brighter. Nemo came into the game as the first half wore on with some excellent solo runs by Luke Horgan. At half time Lisgoold led by a few points. With the Lisgoold goalie in great form in the second half it didn’t look good for Nemo. But goals from David Cotter and Kyle Holland in the last 10 minutes stole the points for Nemo. In the end Nemo won by a couple of points. The Nemo mentors were delighted with the Nemo performance.

Fe 8 Football Blitz @ Eire Og Sat July 8th

The Fe 8 boys travelled to Ovens for an entertaining football blitz last Saturday. Despite lots of boys being away on holidays Nemo still had enough players for two teams. They played selections from Donoughmore, Macroom and Eire Og. Of the 6 games played the Nemo boys won all of them. The games were very competitive and enjoyable. The boys had a great time and we wish to thank our hosts Eire Og.

Fe 16 Football Challenge vs Cork Ladies Mon July 10th

A novel challenge for the Fe 16 boys last week. They played a challenge against our own Ephie Fitzgerald’s Cork ladies. It was a highly entertaining game and very high scoring. In the end the boys had a better goal treat and won marginally. However it was a very useful exercise for both panels. The girl’s skill level was exceptional and the boys had to pull out all the stops to stay with them. They played three 20 minute periods.

Fe 18 B1 Hurling League vs Passage Tues July 11th

The minor hurlers travelled to Passage for a league game last week. The first half was very competitive with only a few scores between the teams at the short whistle. However, Passage dominated the second half and despite the Nemo boys best efforts they never looked like winning the game. Defensively Nemo performed very well but up front they did not pose enough of a threat. In the end the home side won on a score line of 1-14 to 0-07.

Girls Fe 11 Football League vs Carrigaline Tues July 11th

The Nemo Fe 16 boys travelled to picturesque Rosscarbery last week for a league game. The boys were in great form and played some scintillating football. They were never led and scored some brilliant goals including a brace from top class forward Colin Twohig. All over the field Nemo dominated with Eoin Nation and Robert Geaney O’Brien particularly prominent. In the end they won on a score line of 5-15 to 0-10. Special thanks to our hosts Carbery Rangers who were most gracious on the night.

Fe 7 Hurling Blitz @ Cloughduv Sat July 15th

The Fe 7 boys travelled to Cloughduv for a hurling blitz last weekend. With holidays etc. numbers were down. 10 boys travelled. They formed two teams and played 4 games against Cloughduv selections. They lost two games, drew a game and won their last game. This was the boy’s very first hurling game and their mentors were delighted with the skill and application shown. Many thanks to our hosts Cloughduv whom we hope to see in Nemo before the summer is finished for a return leg.
