Fe 18 C3 Football League vs Mallow Mon Feb 26th

The minor C3 team travelled to Mallow for a league game late last month. It was a chance for the extended panel to get game time. In a very competitive game Nemo played some bright attacking football. A couple of goals – one either side of half time gave them a decent cushion. With their defense in very good form they held on for a well-deserved 2-11 to 0-11 victory.

Fe 13 P1 Football League vs St Glanmire Fri Mar 9th

Played in Sallybrook. Nemo started well. They dominated possession for most of the 1st half. Nemo scored the 1st two points and should have scored a goal before Glanmire struck with a breakaway goal. Glanmire added another goal and a point with Nemo replying with 2 points of their own. The score at half-time was 2-1 to 0-4 to Glanmire. The second half followed the same pattern as the first with Nemo dominating but struggling to score. Nemo drew level with a goal from a penalty and then took the lead with 10 minutes remaining but were caught again with another Glanmire goal. Nemo hit the crossbar and the post in those last few minutes but were caught by a late Glanmire goal right at the end of the game. In the end the home side took the league points on a score of 4-01 to 1-05. The performance from the Nemo boys was very encouraging. Well done to both teams for providing excellent entertainment in tough conditions.

Fe 14 C Camogie League vs Bride Rovers Sat Mar 10th

The Fe 14 camogie team opened their league with an away tie to Bride Rovers last weekend. The exchanges were tight and scores were hard to come by. The Nemo girls held their own throughout the game and matched their rivals for skill and hard work. But the home team were that bit better in front of the posts. In a low scoring game Nemo lost 1-01 to 1-04.

Fe 18 P1 Football League vs Douglas Sat Mar 10th

The minors continued their league with an away tie to nearby rivals Douglas last week. They opted to play against the wind in the first half and had to defend well in order to keep within touch. At half time Nemo were two points down. But with the strength of the elements with them in the second half this was a very manageable lead to claw back. This they did. Indeed they dominated the second half possession and eventually this told on the score board. In the end they ran out 3-13 to 2-07 winners. A very good performance by the team as they continue preparations for championship.

Fe 12 Group 1 Football League vs St Finbarrs Sat Mar 10th

Last Saturday the Nemo Fe 12 boys hosted neighbours St Finbarrs in a group 1 league game. The game was very tight throughout with never more than a point of two between the teams. Both sets of defences were on top and with a heavy pitch added into the mix, scores were hard to come by. It looked like Nemo were in control midway through the second half but a well slotted away penalty for the Barrs put them in front. This was a lead they held on to right to the end. Final score was 1-08 to 2-04 for the Barrs. A very entertaining game in the heavy underfoot conditions. Well done to both teams for the excellent entertainment provided.

Fe 12 Camogie Blitz at the Glen Resource Center Sun Mar 11th

The Fe 12 girls travelled to the Glen resource center for a camogie blitz last Sunday morning. They played selections from the Glen and the Barrs. Although they lost both games they competed very well. They had a great time and it is evident that their skills are improving all the time.

Girl’s Fe 14 A Football League vs Eire Og Sun Mar 11th

The Fe 14 girl’s travelled to Eire Og for the league game that was postponed over the “Beast from the East” last Sunday. This was a very entertaining and close game for the most part. There was only a point in it at half time. The Nemo girls were defending very well against an excellent home team. With less than 10 minutes to go there was just 2 points between the teams. But then Eire Og struck for two late goals one of which just dipped under the bar as it appeared to be going over for a point, deceiving the Nemo keeper. This left the final score at 3-07 to 0-09 for the home team. But the score flattered them somewhat as Nemo played very well. The performance was very encouraging from the Nemo girls.
