Girls Fe 18 Football League vs Carrigaline Weds Oct 3rd

The Fe 18 girls travelled to Carrigaline for their league play off at the start of the month. They struggled in the first half and Carrigaline were the better team. At half time they were 5 points behind. But a penalty early in the second half gave the girls renewed hope and they managed to salvage a draw form the game. As this was a playoff extra time was required. The Nemo girl’s fitness really told in this period of play and they dominated to run out comfortable winners on a final score of 1-17 to 0-12. They now have a county quarter final to look forward to against Valley Rovers. Well done to all involved for such an excellent result.

Girls Fe 10 Football Blitz vs Douglas Sat Oct 6th

The Fe 10 girls played a football blitz against neighbours Douglas early this month in Trabeg. Nemo had enough players for 4 teams will Douglas had 2 teams. The games were very exciting and competitive but overall the Douglas girls came out on top. An excellent work out for the Nemo players and they can be pleased with the skill and commitment they showed on the day.

Fe 8 Football Blitz Finals @  PUC Sat Oct 6th

The Fe 8 boys travelled in force to the $G pitch at Pairc Ui Chaoimh early this month for their football final blitz. 33 Nemo boys travelled and 4 teams were formed. They played selections from Clonakilty, Sam Maguires, Donoughmore, Barryroe and Carbery Rangers. They had a great time and were awarded a medal by non-other than Nemo senior Stephen Cronin at the end of the games. A great day was had by all and the boys really enjoyed the experience.

Fe 9 Football Blitz Finals @  Eire Og Sat Oct 6th

The Fe 9 boys travelled to Ovens for their final football blitz for the year earlier this month. 28 Nemo boys travelled and 3 teams were formed. They played Kinsale, Mayfield and Donoughmore. The games were all very competitive and the boys acquitted themselves really well. They had a great time and we thank Eire Og for hosting the event.

Fe 10 Football Blitz Finals @  Carrigtwohill Sat Oct 6th

The Fe 10 boys travelled to Carrigtwohill for their football finals day early in October. They had 29 participants and they fielded 3 teams. They played Lisgoold, Carrigtwohill and Bride Rovers. They were excellent in all their games and came out on top in most of them. Many thanks to our hosts on the day. The boys and their mentors all had a very enjoyable morning’s football.

Fe 11 Football Blitz Finals @  Trabeg Sat Oct 6th

The Fe 11 boys hosted their final football blitz on October 6th. They played selections from the Barrs and Whitescross. The games were of a high standard and very close with never more than a kick of a ball between them. All the boys enjoyed the occasion and really showed off all the skills they have been learning all year. Well done to all involved for organising a very enjoyable morning’s sport.

Girls Fe 16 A Football League vs St Vals Sun Oct 7th

The Fe 16 girls continued their autumn league campaign with an away tie against St Vals earlier this month. This was a very exciting and high scoring game. Nemo started slowly and soon found themselves a few goals behind. But they gradually grew into the game and managed to draw level by half time. But earlier in the second half they were hit for two more goals and they struggled to claw this back. Despite playing some very good football the goals proved decisive and the home team recorded a 5-10 to 2-10 victory. A good display by the Nemo girls who kept going right to the end.


Fe 8 Camogie Blitz @ Barryroe Sun Sep 7th

The Fe 8 camogie team played in their fifth and final blitz earlier this month. 15 girls travelled to Barryroe and 2 teams were formed. They played Bandon, Ballinhassig and Kilbree. They were competitive in all their games and displayed plenty of skill and determination. They enjoyed the day out and especially the great cakes after the games. Many thanks to our hosts Barryroe who really looked after all the clubs on the day.

Fe 12 Camogie League vs Passage Fri Oct 12th

The Fe 12 girls travelled to Passage for a camogie league game earlier this month. Defences were on top in this game and scores were hard to come by. The sides were level at half time and the Nemo girls were certainly holding their own. The same pattern was played out in the second half but Passage improved in front of goal and they eventually got the scores to win the game. The Nemo girls played very well and managed to get within a single point of their hosts. But they ran out of time and lost in the end by that single point.

Girls Fe 16 A Football League vs Naomh Aban Fri Oct 12th

The Fe 16 girls continued their autumn league with a home tie against Naomh Aban last Friday night. The girls played very well in the first half and were only a point behind at the short whistle. The second half was very close for the first 20 minutes with the Nemo girls playing some very good attacking football and defending very well. However, with 10 minutes to go they missed a clear goal chance and Naomh Aban counter attacked and scored a decisive goal of their own. This seemed to knock the wind from the Nemo girls sails and Naomh Aban took over and finished very strongly to win on a final score of 4-15 to 4-03. The score line didn’t do justice to the Nemo girls efforts on the night but Naomh Aban were deserved winners.

Fe 10 Hurling Blitz Finals @ Sat Oct 13th

The Fe 10 hurlers travelled to west Cork for their final blitz of the year against in Argideen Rangers. Despite the poor weather, 28 Nemo boys participated and there was great support from parents on view also. Clubs participating were Argideen, Kilmeen-Kilbree, Courcey Rovers. Lee Gaels and Ballinhassig. Everyone played 3 20 minute games. Great hurling across the board in spite of the weather. With refreshments laid on by the host club after the games, everyone had a great time. Many thanks to our hosts Argideen Rangers who stepped in to host the blitz at short notice. A great day was had by all the Nemo boys, mentors and parents.

Fe 14 B1 Hurling League SF vs Grenagh Sat Oct 13th

The Fe 14 boys qualified for their league semi-final by virtue of topping the table with an unbeaten record. They hosted Grenagh in the semi-final last weekend in very wet conditions. The conditions dictated the early exchanges with scores hard to come by. Defences were on top but Nemo did manage to score a couple of good goals which gave them the advantage of a goal lead at half time. The second half was tough and the hurling was hard. But again Nemo managed to get the few scores on the board to keep their noses in front. Nemo’s defence was immense in the final 15 minutes as they held Grenagh scoreless in that period. At the other end of the field the Nemo forwards poached another 2 goals to leave the score line comfortable in the end. Final score was 5-05 to 1-03 for the Nemo boys. The score didn’t reflect the Grenagh boys efforts or the tight nature of the game. Nemo can now look forward to the league final against St Colmans in a few weeks’ time. Hopefully they can keep their unbeaten run going for one more game.

Fe 15 P2 Football League vs Youghal Sun Oct 14th

The Fe 15 footballers travelled to Youghal for a league game in mid-October. This was a game the Nemo boys dominated from start to finish. They started brightly and got some early points on the board. Youghal were very game and they too were able to get some well worked scores. Nemo led by 5 points at the interval. They extended the lead with a well taken goal just after the break and they held this lead right to the end. Playing some smart football the boys ran out winners on a final score of 3-16 to 2-08.

Fe 12 Camogie vs Douglas Mon Oct 15th

The Fe 12 camogie team visited near neighbours Douglas for a league game earlier this month. This was a very tight affair with defences on top. Nemo struggled in front of goal but the girls defended very well. At half time there was just a point between the teams. In the second half Nemo spurned some gilt edged chances to get back in front. Late in the game the Douglas girls sealed the win with a very well taken goal. In the end a 4 point loss for Nemo but the girls played very well and their mentors were very pleased with their efforts.

Fe 16 Camogie vs Blarney Mon Oct 15th

The Fe 16 camogie tam entertained Blarney earlier this month. The Nemo girls played exceptionally well on the night. They were on to in all sectors of the field and their first touch was very good. They recorded a comfortable win.

Fe 14 Camogie vs Watergrasshill Weds Oct 17th

The Fe 14 camogie girls travelled to Watergrasshill for a league game last week. The girls started brightly and soon they held a two point lead. But they missed some great goal chances and this was to come back to haunt them in the second half. Watergrasshill improved in the second period and soon they started to find their range. Unlike the Nemo girls the hosts took their goal chances. This was the difference between the teams in the end with Nemo losing the game by 4 points. A very good display by the Nemo team against strong opposition.

Girls Fe 14 Autumn League Final vs Carrigaline Fri Oct 19th

The Fe 14 girls played their autumn league final away to Carrigaline last week. This proved to be a cracking contest. Carrigaline had the better of the first half and scoring some great goals they went in at the break 7 points ahead on a score of 3-03 to 1-02. But Nemo thundered into the game in the second half and they soon had the Carrigaline lead down to one point. But in this see-saw contest the home team rallied again. With 6 minutes remaining they had restored their 7 point lead and it looked as if it was curtains for Nemo. But two goals in quick succession by Nemo put the game back in the melting pot. Nemo equalized, Carrigaline went back down the field and re-took the lead. But an injury time point by Nemo was enough to earn them a deserved draw. Final score was 5-09 each. The replay will now happen after the midterm break. Well done to both teams for providing such great entertainment. Hopefully the replay will be just as good.

Fe 8 Hurling Blitz Finals @ PUC Sat Oct 20th

The Fe 8 boys travelled in force to the 4G pitch in Pairc Ui Chaoimh last weekend for their final hurling blitz of the year. 24 Nemo boys participated and they formed 3 teams. They played selections from Cobh, Ballincollig, Castlelyons and Blackrock. They were competitive in all their games and matched the opposition for skill and endeavour. They all had a great time and really enjoyed playing in the big stadium.

Girls Fe 18 FC Quarter Final vs Valley Rovers Sat Oct 20th

The Fe 18 girls played the county quarter final last weekend. Played in Brinny they came up against a very good Valley Rovers team. Goals win games and this was certainly true of this match. The Nemo girls matched their opponents in nearly all facets of play – except in front of goal. The Valley forwards were in great form and they recorded a 5-07 to 0-06 win. A great effort by the Nemo girls who battled until the final whistle. We wish Valley well in the rest of the championship.


Fe 12 C3 Football League SF vs St Finbarrs Sat Oct 20th

The Fe 12 C3 football team plated their league semi-final last week against near neighbours St Finbarrs. The game was played in fine weather in Trabeg. The first half was a very even contest. Neither side dominated the early exchanges. At half time the sides were level. Not long after half time Nemo scored a number of goals and they started to pull away. The Barrs boys kept going right to the end but Nemo had done enough to record a comfortable win. They can now look forward to the league final.

Fe 14 P1 Football Challenge Cup Final vs Na Piarsaigh Sat Oct 20th

The Fe 14 boys played the challenge cup final in Ballygarvan last week against north side rivals Na Piarsaigh. The first 20 minutes of this game was very close with both sides trading scores regularly. But Nemo scored two quick goals and followed it with some excellent pointed frees to put daylight between the teams at the short whistle. In the second half, Na Piarsaigh tried very hard to reel in Nemo. But anytime that a rally looked on the Nemo boys managed to manufacture a score to keep daylight between the teams. In the end they recorded a well-deserved 4-11 to 1-07 win. A great end to the boy’s football campaign for the year. Well done to all involved.

Fe 15 P2 Football League vs Ballygarvan Sun Oct 21st

The Fe 15 boys travelled to Ballygarvan for their first round championship match last weekend. Nemo hit the ground running and soon they were 1-01 to no score ahead. But the home side dug deep and soon were level. Worse followed for Nemo as they conceded a late first half goal to leave them trailing by 4 points at the break. The early part of the second half belonged to the home side and with 10 minutes to go they led by 6 points. But Nemo never panicked. In two great attacking moves they scored two great goals to level the game. With the game now in the melting pot it was up to whoever held their nerve. Nemo scored two great points and looked home and safe. But Ballygarvan reduced to the gap to one with a few minutes of injury time to play. Nemo were hanging on, But hang on they did for a 4-05 to 2-10 victory. Well done lads. They now play the winners of Carbery and Eire Og in the next round.

Girls Fe 14 Football Challenge vs Listowel Sun Oct 21st

The Fe 14 girls entertained Listowel last weekend in an entertaining football challenge. It was an opportunity for the full Nemo panel to have a run out. The game was very close but Nemo just about shaded it in the end. The girls enjoyed the football and mixing with the girls from Listowel afterwards for light refreshments was most enjoyable. Many thanks to our visitors for making the long journey up to Cork.

Fe 13 Football Challenge vs Glanmire Sun Oct 21st

The Fe 13 boys had a useful challenge game at home to Glanmire last Sunday. Nemo dominated the first half and they were 2-03 to 0-01 up at the break. The second half was a much closer affair. But the Nemo boy’s ability to score goals was the real difference between the teams and they ended up winning 3-06 to 0-08. A good work out for the boys with their league play offs coming up. We thank Glanmire for providing the challenge.

Fe 18 P1 Football County Final vs St Michaels Mon Oct 22nd

The Fe 18 boys reached the county premier final this year. The game was played last Monday night under lights in Pairc Ui Rinn. Nemo started brightly and soon they were 0-05 to 0-02 ahead thanks to some great points from Mark Cronin and Ronan Dalton. But St Michaels got a grip at midfield late in the first half and they scored 1-03 without reply to leave the half time score at 1-05 to 0-05. Nemo needed a good start to the second half but the opposite transpired. St Michaels scored 1-01 without reply to leave Nemo trailing by 7 points early in the half. Worse was to follow as the Mahon outfit struck for a third goal to leave Nemo training by 11 points with just 10 minutes to go – 3-08 to 0-06. But the Nemo boys rallied and with great runs by Patrick Campbell and substitute Robert Dillon they managed to get back into the game. With Cian Kennefick starting to get a grip at midfield Nemo started to get some good scores. A great goal from Patrick Campbell put them right back in the hunt. But time was running out. Both Mark Cronin and Robert Dillon had goal chances that just went wide late in the game. St Michaels were able to hit Nemo on the break for the few points that kept two scores between the teams at all times. In the end time ran out for Nemo. Final score was 3-10 to 1-11. A great effort by the Nemo boys on the night and a great achievement in reaching the final. The club can be very proud of this bunch of players. We congratulate St Michaels who were worth winners on the night.
